The Auckland City Hospital Trauma Service provides trauma care for all general trauma patients for the Central Auckland population of approximately 400,000, as well as care for major trauma patients in both the Auckland and North Shore catchments of just over 1 million. Auckland City Hospital admits over 1800 trauma patients per year of which 350 fulfil major trauma criteria.
There is a 12-month fixed term Fellowship position available in the Trauma Service from February 2026.
This position is accredited for Post-Fellowship training in Trauma Surgery.
The successful applicant will gain experience in decision-making in trauma and acute surgery as well as relevant operative
experience. Staff at Auckland City Hospital have significant national and international roles in trauma and acute surgery
and the Fellow will have exposure to a wide range of educational opportunities.
Clinical research opportunities are also available within the Department and in association with the University of Auckland.
You must be a qualified medical practitioner with a post graduate qualification in general surgery and will need to have
FRACS or equivalent and be able to be generally registered by the Medical Council of New Zealand.
