A great place to work. With great work to do.
Ours is a meaningful and impactful role, as a kaitiaki of the financial services in Aotearoa. We oversee a market that does right by everyone, ensuring better outcomes for all New Zealanders. Our role as a kaitiaki is brought to life by our values; Look to the Horizon, Help the Team Work, Make the Calls and Open Hearts, Open Minds.
The FMA's remit and regulatory approach is evolving to be outcomes-based, with a strong focus on facilitating fairer outcomes for everyday customers of financial services, as well as investors.
Our new role is growing into something pretty exciting - now let's talk about yours.
Te Tūranga | The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an Adviser to join our Financial Advice team, in either Auckland or Wellington. Our Financial Advice team supervises & monitors the financial advice sector, including all Financial Advice Providers (FAPs) ranging from sole advisers, through to large banks, insurers and investment management providers.
This is a frontline supervisory role where you will have regular engagement with a wide range of Financial Advice Providers (FAP) related financial market participants. The role is broad, and no two days are the same - you could be doing anything from conducting an onsite monitoring review, to assessing potential cases of misconduct, to building relationships with entities through operational meetings or hosting an educational industry workshop.
In this role, you'll get front row seats across the broadest and largest population of entities that FMA regulates.
He kōrero mōu | About you
Most important to your success in this role will be your strong critical thinking skills, natural curiosity, and your excellent communication skills - both verbal and written (this role involves a good deal of professional writing).
Further to this, if you have experience working within a bank, insurer or elsewhere within the financial services industry where you have had exposure to FAPs, financial products such as lending or investments, or if you possess a Level 5 Certificate in Financial Services, we would love to hear from you.
Ngā painga | What we offer
We offer some great benefits including a 4% KiwiSaver contribution, health and life insurance cover, paid leave over the Christmas period, a generous $1,500 refer a friend bonus as well as an ability to swap public holiday leave with other days that mean more to you. Additionally, we have exceptional learning and development opportunities including access to leadership development, technical training, and external coaching.
At the FMA we're committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment where every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered to bring their authentic self to work each day. We offer a range of wellness and social activities designed to support our people with aspects of their personal and professional lives and genuinely connect with their colleagues.
At FMA, you'll be part of an organization that values and celebrates the diverse backgrounds, cultures, perspectives, and life experiences of our team members.
