Adviser (Regulatory Advice Service Exporter Help)

Role type: Permanent, full-time

Location: Wellington

Salary range: General Salary Range F: $74,964 to $87,466 depending on skills and experience

 

About the Role - Kōrero mō te Tūranga

Are you passionate about the growth of New Zealand and the contribution to be made by our food and fibre businesses.

The Regulatory Advice Service is a key function within MPI that communicates on a day-to-day basis with businesses around New Zealand to support their growth and a thriving New Zealand economy.  We support business by providing competent advice on the regulations that underpin New Zealand's food and fibre exports and food imports.  We do this by providing guidance, webinars and online tools and through email queries and phone calls. 

We are looking for a vibrant Adviser to bring motivation and enthusiasm to our Exporter Help team.

We provide an induction programme which will help you build the knowledge and skills needed to do your job.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Providing exporters with a strong customer centric level of service and support.
  • Making information easier for exporters to find, use and understand while tailored for different export segments.
  • Developing relationships with industry stakeholders and key contacts throughout MPI.
  • Use data to identify trends, issues, patterns and pain points for export sectors and businesses.

 

About You - Mōu

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of people, including demonstrated success working across business groups in a collaborative manner using effective influencing skills.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills – be able to understand technical issues and translate into simple, easily communicated information.
  • A strong track record of delivering results, including planning and organising work.
  • Experience understanding the needs of clients and managing their expectation to satisfy their needs.
  • A tertiary qualification (or minimum 3yrs equivalent experience)
  • Food tech or science knowledge is not compulsory but would be useful

The Regulatory Advice Service – Exporter Help team supports New Zealand exporters by making it easier to understand MPI's requirements to export. We are a collaborative and interactive team that enjoys working together to provide a customer- centric approach to their work
