Job Description
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
About us
The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko is an independent Crown entity that regulates the electricity market. We are a kaitiaki of electricity, and our purpose is to enhance New Zealanders' lives, prosperity, and environment through electricity.
The electricity industry is at a pivotal moment, with the journey towards renewable energy sources and innovation reshaping how we operate. To meet these challenges and opportunities, we're evolving as an organisation - growing our capabilities, expanding our reach, and building a team ready to create a brighter, more sustainable future for Aotearoa. Our focus is on making a difference through bold thinking, collaboration, and delivering value for the communities we serve.
About the role
We're looking for a motivated Advisor to join our Compliance team. In this role, you'll help us monitor and promote compliance with the Electricity Industry Participation Code and other legislation. You'll be part of a small, close-knit team that works on everything from reviewing exemption applications to investigating potential breaches and supporting industry education.
No two days will be the same - this role will be responsible for monitoring our compliance inbox, dealing with a variety of queries. You'll also be involved in reviewing audit reports, analysing alleged breaches, and helping deliver our monitoring programme. You'll work with a wide range of people across the electricity sector and play an important part in helping us deliver fair, consistent, and future-focused regulation.
Our ideal candidate
You'll bring a strong attention to detail, solid writing skills, and a good grasp of how regulation works - or a genuine interest in learning about the industry. You might have experience in compliance, legal, policy, or investigations, and you're someone who enjoys understanding how things work and getting to the bottom of a problem.
You'll be comfortable working with legal and technical information and explaining your thinking clearly to others. Just as important is your ability to build good relationships and work well as part of a team. Experience in the electricity sector is a bonus, but what we value most is curiosity, clear thinking, and a commitment to doing good work that makes a difference.
Why work with us?
Electricity plays a critical role in the quality of our lives and businesses. As an electricity kaitiaki our work is diverse, intellectually challenging and contributes to our communities, economy, environment, and the nation as a whole. We are a small but high-impact organisation where talented individuals can make a real difference. We foster an open, collaborative environment that encourages quality, innovation, ongoing learning, and knowledge sharing.
We support a healthy work-life balance and offer a range of benefits to support our teams.
This includes the following:
- Competitive starting salary between $93,000 and $116,000 on your skills and experience, plus a 3% net KiwiSaver contribution
- Flexible working options
- Health, wellbeing, and social initiatives, including allowances, Habit Health+ EAP services for you and your whānau, and regular team events
