About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager – Finished Products, you will lead the afternoon shift team (4pm – 12am, Monday to Friday), playing a pivotal role in ensuring daily production targets, quality standards, and safety compliance are consistently achieved.
Your Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the control and supervision of all production processes within Powdercoat
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of 15+ in a hands-on supervisory capacity
- Implement operating plans, labour schedules and shifts to meet scheduled requirements.
- Report all production and quality reports daily and monitor and action progress against set targets
- Develop production schedules, monitor and adhere to quality, safety and cost standards to achieve optimum efficiency within budget ensure delivery on time;
- Liaise with critical suppliers to manage on site stock holding and powder and chemical forecasting
- Develop and make recommendation regarding improved operating procedures
- Managing production workflows and ensuring adherence to safety and quality protocols
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure compliance with ISO9001 standard
- Driving process improvements and embedding Lean Manufacturing principles
- Maintaining a strong focus on production accuracy and operational efficiency
- Collaborating with planning and supply chain teams to ensure delivery timelines are met
About You
You are a hands-on and motivated leader who thrives in a manufacturing and powdercoat environment. You are technically competent, with proven leadership ability and exude strong people skills, and you consistently strive towards continuous improvement.
What You Bring:
- A minimum of 5 years in a supervisory and ideally management capacity within a manufacturing environment
- Highly developed and comprehensive knowledge of modern manufacturing processes related to metal surface finishing
- Mechanical Engineering / Technology / Operations management qualification (or equivalent) preferred , but surface finishing experience is essential.
- A proven track record of leading high-performing teams and driving productivity
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build team engagement
- Experience with high-volume production environments and a focus on quality and process control
- Commitment to continuous improvement, Lean practices, and H&S compliance
- Attention to detail and a passion for doing things better, faster, and smarter
