About the Role

Wāhi Oranga is a specialist inpatient unit that provides intensive acute and rehabilitative cares. The position will support a programme of group and individual activities, both within Wahi Oranga and the wider community. 

We are looking for a warm, enthusiastic and recovery-focussed person, ideally with previous health care experience, to join our multi-disciplinary team, who is able to bring a Kaupapa Māori perspective to the ward program and planning of care for our tāngata whaiora.

Allied Health Assistants undertake a range of duties under the direction of occupational therapists, social workers and psychologists delivering support, activities, education, therapy, and helping maintain a therapeutic environment for service users. 

This full time position will be working 80 hours a fortnight. Our usual hours of work are Monday to Friday between 8.00AM and 4:30PM.

About you

We are looking for a practical, motivated, well-organised and physically fit person with life experience. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills and a creative and positive approach. You will be supportive of colleagues, open to new ideas, and will have the ability to work under direction. 

You will have a busy and varied day working across a range of settings and with a wide range of people, so a commitment to teamwork and a can do attitude are essential. Previous experience within the health sector is preferred. 

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ work visa at the time of applying.

Qualifications

A requirement of this role is that you hold a NZQA Level 3: New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Health Assistance Strand. You will also have current full driver - s licence and will have attained Year 11-NCEA Level 2 English and Level 2 Maths (or equivalent).
