About the Role

Are you an enthusiastic and caring person and want to make a real difference? Could you be part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team that provides physiotherapy, occupational therapy and personal cares to people in their own homes?

We are seeking expressions of interest from allied health assistants to join a proposed Supportive Transition and Restoration Team (START) working with patients in their own homes to support a return to function and independence post injury.

The hours will be 0.6 FTE (24 hours / week) – 1.0 FTE (40 hours/ week). This may involve some shift work, and potentially some weekend work

About the Team/Service/ Location

Initially you will complete a period of induction and orientation based on the inpatient wards at North Shore Hospital. Here you will be upskilled in the restorative and rehabilitation techniques, as well as aspects of personal care that will be required when you see people in their homes.

About you

Key tasks of this role:

· You will work under the supervision of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Registered Nurses:

· Assisting patients with prescribed therapy programmes, and promoting independence in activities of daily living and personal cares

· Assisting clinicians in therapy sessions

· Demonstrating how to use adaptive equipment to maximise independence and safety

Key requirements for this role:

· You will ideally have recent experience working with older adults and be familiar with working in a hospital or community healthcare setting

· Demonstrate excellent communication skills, particularly with older people & team members

· An adaptable and mature approach 

· Commitment to on-going learning

· Good organisational and self-management skills

· Self-motivation, enthusiasm and initiative

· Ability to work well in a team
