Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role

The Budget team is responsible for:

  • Designing, coordinating, and advising Ministers on the Budget process and Budget package, working closely with the Minister of Finance and her office;
  • Advising the Government and the wider public service by leading each phase of the annual Budget process, including Budget strategy, design, ministerial decision-making and production; and
  • Supporting the drafting and production of the Economic and Fiscal Updates and other fiscal management processes. We also act as an advisor to Treasury teams on fiscal implications and applying the fiscal management approach to various proposals.

 This is a high-profile role that provide plenty of opportunities for personal growth and stretch. You will work closely with people from across Treasury to deliver our work including sector teams, system teams, and our senior leaders. As well as having responsibility for delivering specific outputs, you'll be part of a fun, supportive and close-knit team working together on the biggest event in the Treasury calendar.

This is a general policy analyst role, so an interest in or some general understanding of the Budget is helpful, but experience working on the Budget or on public financial management is not required.
