Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role
An equitable and high performing health sector is at the heart of delivering higher living standards and wellbeing for New Zealanders, and we have a unique opportunity for someone in the early stages of their career to join the Health and ACC team.
You will have the opportunity to work on a range of issues from within our Vote team, who provide policy and funding advice on a range of issues, particularly through the annual Budget process. This is a great opportunity in your career to understand public finance through the lense of a big, complex sector - a skill that will be invaluable across your career. The nature of this work enables you to work alongside senior representatives across health agencies and interact frequently with the Minister of Finance's office.

This important work takes a special kind of person with a passion for making a difference and getting things done. We are committed to employing people, with a wide range of academic, cultural and social backgrounds and experiences, who represent the New Zealand community we serve.
We're looking for someone with 18 to 36 months' public sector policy experience (or equivalent) who wants to take a step up in their career, within a supportive and friendly team environment.
You must be passionate about the public service and have a drive to make a difference. Whilst there are technical elements of the role, you will be supported well to learn and are not a pre-requisite for the role. The key thing we are looking for is strength in 'soft skills', showing early promise in particular on your communication, work programme management and relationship skills.
