  • An opportunity to use technical expertise and thought leadership for delivering a high quality, evidence based technical advice to the Ministers, Ministry and key stakeholders.

  • Based in National office, Wellington, this is a Full Time, Fixed Term opportunity for 6 months

Te Puni Kōkiri is the government's principal policy advisor on Māori wellbeing and development. We achieve strategic influence with a focus on providing high quality policy advice and holding other agencies to account for delivering public services to, for, and with Māori.  This includes our mandate to promote Māori achievement in education, training, health and economic resource development along with performing our monitoring and mentoring roles. 

Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The opportunity

 

The Principal Advisor is a newly established role to support the Ministry with the development of a report on Crown System Reporting on Treaty Settlements.

 

The Principal Advisor role is a six-month Fixed Term position to support the development of the second iteration of the Whole of Crown System Report. It is anticipated that this iteration is completed in 6 months' time which enables the Ministry to move to the next phase of the work programme.

 

Reporting to the Chief Advisor, Strategy, you will lead a range of activities across the Whole Crown System Report on Treaty Settlements work programme. You will work collaboratively with kaimahi within the team and stakeholders within Te Puni Kōkiri and across government. Through your work, you will be able to positively contribute to growing the quality of advice and practice with the Ministry.

 

The likely appointment range is $123,009 (90%) - $150,720 (110%) gross per annum

As the successful candidate, you will have.

  • Proven ability in the provision of advice to Ministers and senior leaders
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven experience managing complex and multiple relationships with key stakeholders
  • Good understanding of the relevance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi to the work being undertaken
  • Good working knowledge in research, monitoring and outcome measurement methodologies and in using evidence to support policy and programme development.
  • You're a people person, able to hold workshops and deliver to user requirements.
  • Experience working in hybrid agile environments is a plus.

 

This is also a unique opportunity to work with Māori data and supporting internal and external thinking on how to apply appropriate data management approaches.
