About the role

We are looking for a motivated, solutions focused and tech-savvy individual to join our Radiology Systems team based at Christchurch Hospital. In this Application Specialist role, you - ll help manage and support a range of clinical applications, including Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and Radiology Information System(RIS), which are used across multiple connected hospital sites.

This role suits someone with experience in health IT applications or digital health environments. Experience in Radiology systems is highly valued but not essential. Radiographers with strong IT skills and an interest in digital Health are also encouraged to apply. We welcome applicants who are eager to learn and work closely with clinicians and IT stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient digital workflows.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide expert application support and administrative oversight across a suite of radiology IT systems.
  • Act as a key contact for end users, offering support via phone and ticketing systems
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors on application upgrades, rollouts, and system improvements
  • Deliver structured training sessions on systems and workflows (remote and in-person)
  • Support projects and contribute to ongoing improvements in system use and workflows.
  • Participate in a shared 24/7 on-call roster for after-hours support (following training)

About the Team

You - ll be part of a close-knit team working within Radiology at Christchurch Hospital. The team supports radiology applications used across several linked hospital services, partnering with clinical, digital, and vendor stakeholders, in the South Island region. Our focus is on system reliability, patient safety, and optimising digital tools that support diagnostic services and patient care in the region.

About you

You - re someone who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and supporting others. You bring a user-focused mindset and communicate well with both clinical and technical teams.

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • 2+ years - experience working with clinical applications or healthcare IT
  • Experience in application support, training, or implementation
  • Project coordination and change management exposure
  • Familiarity with Radiology systems or workflows (advantageous but not required)
  • Experience working in large, complex environments or fast-paced settings
