Mō tēnei tūranga | About the role 

Assessment Delivery Expert plays a key role in the Operations and Logistics group. You will ensure a skilled workforce for both digital and paper-based assessments is in place to enable exam centres to operate efficiently and effectively. You will also be responsible for developing and delivering training for school/kura and exam centre staff and identifying process improvement opportunities to support effective delivery of assessments.

Efficient exam centre operations will be at the centre of what you do. You will be detail-oriented and solutions-focused, leveraging your coordination and operational delivery skills to ensure exam operations run smoothly. To succeed in this role, it is essential that you demonstrate strong collaboration and communication skills to build effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Due to the nature of our work, reflecting on what works well and identifying areas of improvement to inform future planning and processes will be important aspects of your role.

  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage complex logistics and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively to a range of audiences.
  • Strong analytical thinking, with the ability to identify issues and develop practical, creative solutions.
  • Proven relationship management skills and the ability to build rapport quickly with individuals from diverse backgrounds, particularly in school and kura environments.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and troubleshoot problems during the delivery of national external assessments.
  • Confident user of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • Experience in facilitating training and guidance to a large audience will be helpful however, a strong willingness to learn and develop in this area is equally valued, and support will be provided to enable this

It would also be helpful (but not essential) if you joined us with:

  • Knowledge of te ao Māori and a demonstrated commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (desirable).
  • Strong knowledge and/or hands-on experience with intra-year assessments as well as NCEA and New Zealand Scholarship external assessment processes.
  • Solid understanding of the New Zealand secondary school system.
  • A relevant qualification at NZQF Level 7 or equivalent professional experience.
