Job Description

RobLawMax Recruitment is proud to partner exclusively with Channel Infrastructure New Zealand, owner and operator of New Zealand’s largest fuel import terminal at Marsden Point. We are seeking an experienced and strategically-minded Asset Services Manager to lead the long-term asset management strategy across this critical national infrastructure.

About the Role

This pivotal leadership role is focused on delivering strategic outcomes for the maintenance and integrity of Channel’s fixed equipment, pipelines, and terminal infrastructure. Reporting to the General Manager – Operations, the Asset Services Manager will ensure the continued availability, reliability, and regulatory compliance of all major assets while enhancing value through long-term planning and improvement.

This is not a hands-on maintenance or technician management role. Instead, you will guide and coordinate strategic asset planning, inspections, and lifecycle management, working closely with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of long-term asset management strategies for pipeline and terminal infrastructure.
  • Own the Asset Management System and Asset Management Plan, ensuring alignment with ISO55000 and other standards.
  • Champion continuous improvement in asset lifecycle management, planning and systems.
  • Manage asset health assessments and risk frameworks to optimise whole-of-life performance.
  • Lead and support long-term asset planning and capital planning processes.
  • Oversee inspection, integrity management and compliance with legislative, regulatory and engineering standards.
  • Provide leadership and development to the Asset Services team.
  • Support the development of asset-related input into commercial and customer engagement processes.
  • Ensure a strong safety culture and compliance in all asset-related activities.

About You

You are a seasoned asset management professional with experience in hazardous industrial or critical infrastructure environments. You bring a strong mix of strategic insight, technical expertise, and people leadership to the role.

  • A solid foundation in asset integrity and reliability management, particularly within Major Hazard Facilities or similarly complex operations
  • Proven leadership of engineering and maintenance teams, with a strong focus on safety, performance, and continuous improvement
  • A demonstrated ability to lead a strong safety culture, with practical experience in applying health, safety and environmental legislation — including risk management, permit systems, and operational controls
  • Technical expertise in the transport and storage of hazardous substances, including compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
  • A demonstrated ability to successfully collaborate with others to lead change — from business improvement and maintenance optimisation to strategic planning and investment cases

You are collaborative, forward-thinking, and driven to deliver safe, reliable, and sustainable infrastructure outcomes.

Why Channel Infrastructure NZ?

  • Nationally critical infrastructure: Channel owns and operates New Zealand’s fuel import terminal and pipeline network, supplying around 40% of the country’s fuel.
  • Strategic future-focused environment: The business is investing in energy resilience, innovation, and long-term infrastructure sustainability.
  • Unique location: Enjoy a lifestyle opportunity based in beautiful Northland, with potential flexibility to spend part of the week working from Auckland.
