The Office of the Auditor-General | Te Mana Arotake aims to improve trust and confidence in public services by giving New Zealanders an independent view of government spending and performance. As the statutory auditor of all public organisations, from councils to schools, the Auditor-General's work plays a major part in ensuring that our public sector remains one of the most trusted in the world.

We're looking for an Assistant Analyst to join our Data and Analytics team. This team is part of our Sector Performance Group, which works to gain insight into the challenges public organisations face, make recommendations, and identify good practice for other organisations to learn from. 

As an Assistant Analyst, you'll work individually or alongside a colleague to acquire financial and non-financial data from annual reports from public organisations as well as supporting other members of the team in delivering analytical products and insights. This is an important role in the team which supports primary functions of the Office such as annual review, estimates examinations and performance audits.

To succeed in this role, you'll have:

  • excellent Microsoft Office skills;
  • a drive for innovation and efficiency;
  • the ability to understand and analyse complex issues and reach sound conclusions;
  • a flexible and constructive “can-do” approach;
  • good communication skills; and
  • good relationship management skills and comfort working in a team.
