Business Development Manager / Account Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:
Business Development & Market Expansion
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities with retail partners, commercial clients, and industry collaborators
- Develop and execute market expansion strategies across the Upper North Island.
- Conduct market research to uncover trends, customer needs, and competitor activity
- Deliver tailored presentations and pitches to prospective clients
- Maintain a structured pipeline of potential new business opportunities
Sales Growth & Customer Relationship Management
- Grow revenue from existing customers through exceptional service and proactive account management
- Engage regularly with key accounts to understand needs and build loyalty
- Develop and implement strategies to achieve or exceed sales targets
- Manage quotes, sales agreements, and contracts efficiently
Internal Collaboration
- Partner with marketing to create targeted campaigns and promotional strategies
- Provide feedback to product development based on client input and market trends
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth order fulfilment and excellent customer service
Industry Engagement & Competitive Analysis
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking functions
- Monitor competitors and report actionable insights
- Stay informed on trends and innovations in the industry
- Organise client-facing events to elevate brand awareness
Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records and update CRM systems regularly
- Submit timely reports on sales performance and market activity
- Ensure full compliance with company policies and industry regulations
Requirements:
- 5+ years’ experience in business development, sales, or account management in a design-focused industry
- Proven ability to win new business while maintaining strong client relationships
- Excellent negotiation and presentation skills
- Strong track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets
- Full, clean Class 1 driver’s license and willingness to travel across the Upper North Island as required.
- Legal right to work in New Zealand and able to pass a police background check
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM platforms
- Tertiary qualification in business, marketing, sales, or a related field (preferred)
