We have an exceptional opportunity to join a division of one of the largest group of companies in the manufacture, supply, and installation of a wide range of product solutions to the New Zealand building and construction industry.

Reporting directly to Head Office your new key leadership role, with a sales management focus will take responsibility for the Lower North Island distribution operation for United Steel based in Levin.

Operationally the business unit supplies the lower North Island market, from a sales perspective you will be directly responsible for managing multiple sales channels including the merchant trade, steel fabricators and general engineers.

Leading a team of 10, this is a genuine autonomous business unit management role where you will have the overall responsibility and accountability for the profitable performance of your business unit.

Your new role will focus on:

  • Leading and developing an experienced team to grow the performance of the business.
  • Driving strong and profitable sales growth.
  • Understanding your market to identify and win new sales growth.
  • Developingnewcustomers, products, distribution channels and service differentiators.
  • Ensuring safety is always a first priority.
  • Full P&L ownership: sales, margin, costs.
  • Continuous improvement of efficiencies and customer service levels.


You will ideally bring:

  • Experience in a similar leadership role with a sales focus and wanting to grow your career further.
  • Strong exposure to the building materials industry.
  • Sound business acumen.
