Ngā kawenga | About the role

The Business and Finance Adviser plays a crucial role in supporting the Regional Manager Finance and Business Partnering, along with regional leadership teams, in financial planning, management, and reporting. This multifaceted position encompasses various responsibilities, including providing advisory support by analysing and recommending priorities for business cases. The role extends to assisting the region's business units in developing business/operational plans, monitoring progress, and aligning planning and reporting with the national framework. It is a pivotal link between back-office support and the operational realities of frontline service delivery.

As the Business and Finance Adviser you also excel in risk analysis, contributing to effective mitigating strategies. Financial management support and advice are key aspects of the role, delivered to both the regional leadership team and operations managers. You will actively participate in the development, implementation, and management of accounting and financial policies, procedures, systems, and processes.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

The successful Business and Finance Adviser will have the following skills and experience.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Public Finance Act and Public Sector accounting standards and guidelines.
  • Excellent ability to develop effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Core understanding of Microsoft Office products and financial management software (e.g. SAP)
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts to a range of audiences.
  • Familiarity with the Treaty of Waitangi and its application to the work of government agencies 

You will need to travel for this role and a full New Zealand driver's license is required.

Utu ā-tau | Salary

The midpoint of the salary range is $121,124 per annum and the full range (85%-120%) is $102,956 - $145,349 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
