About the Role
The Business Case Lead plays a key role in supporting the delivery of the Digital Investment Plan by leading the development of strategic business cases that enable critical digital health initiatives. Operating at both an advisory and delivery level, the role works closely with the Group Manager Digital Investment and cross-functional teams to ensure business cases are robust, strategically aligned, and meet internal and external quality standards. This includes providing quality assurance across the business case lifecycle, coordinating inputs, and managing approval processes. The Business Case Lead also leads engagement with the Ministry of Health, central agencies, and Ministers to navigate government processes and secure the capital investment and budget approvals required to deliver on Health New Zealand's digital priorities.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Business Case Lead sits within the Digital Investment team, part of the wider Digital Health Strategy & Design function- a collaborative, forward-thinking group focused on stakeholder engagement and strategic investment. The team works closely with Regional Digital Directors, Clinical Informatics Directors, and other key partners to develop digital service roadmaps and adaptable solution designs. By leveraging specialist expertise and strong partnerships, the team ensures investment decisions deliver outcomes that are affordable, sustainable, and equitable across Health New Zealand.
About you
As an experienced advisor or programme lead in business case development and strategic investment planning, you will have a proven ability to lead complex business case processes within public sector settings. You will also have the following skills and experience to support your success in the role:
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in developing and managing business cases within a complex organisation, preferably within the public sector or health sector.
- Proven experience in navigating government funding processes and engaging with central agencies.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and coordinating cross-functional teams.
