About the team

Our Operations Process and Technology Improvement (OPTI) group supports the Operations division to deliver solutions required to manage the real time power system and prepare for an increasingly electrified future https://www.transpower.co.nz/system-operator/our-system-operator-role

The group plays an essential role in proactively identifying the critical capabilities, skills, resources, and support needed to meet current and future operational needs. The group is working to optimise planning and investment decisions across key tools and processes (including SCADA applications, market systems, real time systems, and real time asset management technologies) utilised by our control rooms and other areas of Transpower.

The OPTI Process Modelling and Continuous Improvement team will provide process modelling and continuous improvement (CI) expertise to our Operations division, monitoring the efficiency of our processes and implementing incremental improvements. By establishing and maintaining an up-to-date process repository and CI capability, the team will lead in process modelling, foster a continuous improvement culture, and deliver improvement to Operation's capability continuously.

About the opportunity - a new role

Supported by the Process Modelling and Continuous Improvement Manager, you'll lead business modelling activities, and develop and maintain a management plan for Operations business modelling.

You will model current Operations processes into a designated tool (currently Signavio) according to the agreed process standard, maintain process currency, and ensure alignment with governance processes.

You'll enhance Transpower's efficiency and effectiveness by accurately capturing process steps and related metrics, and collaborate with relevant project teams to provide SME process knowledge as required.

To be considered, your CV and cover letter will demonstrate:

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, such as Engineering, Science, Computer Science and/or equivalent experience.
  • Expertise in modelling complex systems and problems, and well as undertaking information analysis and data manipulation.
  • Experience using Process Modelling tools - Signavio would be a preference.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage process improvement projects utilising Agile and Scrum.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information and foster stakeholder collaboration and influence.
  • Proven ability to identify inefficiencies and optimise processes.
