Mō tēnei tūranga - About the role
 
As a member of the regional Business Operations Leadership Team in Te Hiku Region (covering Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland and Te Tai Tokerau Northland) the Business Services Manager has primary responsibility for leading a high performing team of six Business Service support personnel. This team provides business, improvement and administrative services across Te Hiku to various departments and vital functions of Fire and Emergency New Zealand.

Applying organisational policy and procedures, and regulation the role plays a pivotal part in fostering a culture of business effectiveness, improvement, and collaboration.   Through participation in and leading regional portfolio and working groups, you will contribute to the achievement of critical elements outlined in the regional business plan as well as national working groups.

You will effectively manage relationships with a broad spectrum of internal and external stakeholders, fostering valuable connections that fuel mutual growth and partnerships.

Your leadership will be instrumental in guiding the Business Services Team, with a dedication to driving a high-performing team. Collaborating with Business Services Managers nationally, you will play a leading role in progressing the development, consistency, and refinement of business administration systems and services.

Your relationship skills will be demonstrated through enabling connectedness with others. With exceptional audience awareness, you'll possess the skills necessary to convey information clearly, professionally, and persuasively. Crafting business cases, reports, improvement proposals, and internal communications are, or will become, second nature to you. You have experience overseeing projects and orchestrating the rollout of key initiatives. In addition to outstanding organisational skills, you'll have the ability to guide and motivate team members towards achieving goals.

 

To be successful in this role, we'd expect you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Business Management or equivalent experience
  • Proven leadership skills
  • A sound knowledge of accounting practices
  • Strong Excel and PowerBI capability along with Microsoft 365
  • A knowledge and/or understanding of Continuous Improvement and LEAN methodologies
  • A current full NZ driver's license
  • Understanding of emergency services or public sector environments

The salary range for this role is $96,998 - $107,776 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
