Mō te tūnga | About the role
The Youth Development Unit (YDU) is responsible for providing support to the NZDF for the provision of training to a selection of New Zealand's youth, these being Limited Services Volunteer (LSV), and Youth Life Skills (YLS) Schemes
There are a host of responsibilities in this varied and busy role working alongside a supportive team who are passionate about their responsibilities.
We are seeking a person who has previously worked in a support services role providing technical administration support to a team of people. This role has many parts to it including finance, travel, customer service, admin and event support, document and resource management,
along with
technology and systems management. Your personality and skills will help keep the team on track.

To be considered for this role you will need to possess strong service delivery skills with a customer and team focus. You must have the ability to liaise with a wide range of people, including facilitating a peer network, work unsupervised, show initiative and work in a team environment with a proven ability to maintain absolute confidentiality.
To be successful in this role you will have excellent planning and organisational skills, good oral and written communication skills, and the ability to prioritise tasks and meet timeframes as well as effectively manage changing priorities.
You will also be proficient to advanced level with Windows based operating systems and MS Office programs such as Word, Powerpoint, Visio, Excel and Outlook to support the information management needs of the team. Knowledge of SAP would be an advantage but not essential and experience managing databases and sharepoint sites is required.
You need to have a Class 1 Full Driver's Licence.

To be eligible for the required level of government security clearance with the NZ Defence Force, you need to meet certain citizenship and residency criteria. Here's what you need to know:
Low Level Security Clearance
- You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
- At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last five (5) years.
- You must have a five (5) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
