Historic Hayes is part of the national suite of historic properties managed by Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga and is one of the top visitor attractions in Oturehua along the Otago Central Rail Trail. Hannah's Kitchen is an important part of the experience for visitors to Hayes, with the cafe operating alongside the guided tours and retail store at the historic property.
Hannah's Kitchen is looking for an experienced Café Lead to join our team in a full-time permanent 10 month role (August – May each year). This role is 37.5 hours per week from August to end of May and includes one weekend day of work.
Working alongside our Property Lead, Cook and our hosts, you will have proven experience as a Cafe Manager or in a similar leadership role and will be confident in leading the team, training, POS systems, health & safety food regulations & requirements, coffee making, food preparation, stock management, and food ordering and handling. We will provide training specific to our business, but previous experience is essential.
We are a close-knit team and we need someone who can be a leader extraordinaire as well as a love for hospitality, an amazing attitude and a customer-first philosophy! You'll need to be energetic, flexible, and have good attention to detail. The role includes front-of-house work - good communication, customer skills and team focused leadership are a must.
