About the team
Our Operations Process and Technology Improvement (OPTI) group supports the Operations division to deliver solutions required to manage the real time power system and prepare for an increasingly electrified future https://www.transpower.co.nz/system-operator/our-system-operator-role
The group plays an essential role in proactively identifying the critical capabilities, skills, resources, and support needed to meet current and future operational needs. They are working to optimise planning and investment decisions across key tools and processes (including SCADA applications, market systems, real time systems, and real time asset management technologies) utilised by our control rooms and other areas of Transpower.
The OPTI Capability and Capital Planning team develops and maintains a relevant capability model and assesses the maturity level for Operations, as agreed by the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). The team also maintains the capability roadmap, a forward-looking workplan across Operations, collaborating closely with our Information Services and Technology division to create a unified investment plan that delivers long-term business outcomes for the division.
The opportunity
In this new role, supporting the Capability and Capital Planning Manager, you will provide support and coordination for the implementation and operation of the Operations investment plan, including delivering and maintaining investment cases.
You will support the Capability & Capital Planning Manager in delivering the Operations investment roadmap and facilitating investment planning discussions, ultimately helping our team effectively balance the supply and demand of electricity in Aotearoa and run the market system!
This role offers intellectually challenging work, with daily on-the-job learning and engagement with a wide range of internal stakeholders. This may include building relationships with teams such as our Regulatory team, ICT, Finance, Grid Projects, and across the Operations Division. You may also engage with Service Providers, Technology Suppliers, and the Electricity Authority.
What will you bring?
You will be a commercially focused analyst with excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a proven ability to build relationships. You will thrive in collaborating with and learning from technical subject matter experts.
To be considered, your CV and cover letter will demonstrate:
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, such as commerce, business, finance, science, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of relevant work experience with broad stakeholder engagement.
- A minimum of two years' experience in financial planning or a related role, where you have analysed complex financial and/or project data.
- The ability to develop material and present to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Advanced Excel skills and/or experience with Power BI.
