Job Description

Lead a purpose driven org at the nexus of food, innovation and govt. Shape strategy, drive growth and help influence the future of the industry.

About the Organisation

This is a unique leadership opportunity with a purpose-driven organisation playing a nationally important role in supporting innovation and economic growth. Working at the intersection of science, industry, and commercial development, the organisation partners with a wide range of stakeholders to help drive future focused outcomes.

With a strong public mandate and increasing commercial focus, it is navigating a period of change that will define its future structure and strategic direction.

About the Role

As Chief Executive Officer, you will be responsible for navigating this pivotal moment. You’ll unify internal teams, represent the organisation to key external partners, and shape its evolution within the emerging landscape of innovation and government reform.

This is a highly relational, strategically complex leadership role, requiring fluency across public and private domains, commercial growth acumen, and confidence operating in technical, regulatory, and politically sensitive environments.

What We’re Looking For

  • Deep experience in food production or food technology, including regulatory compliance and operational oversight.
  • Proven capability in stakeholder management, ideally across both central government and industry.
  • Strong commercial instincts, with a track record of business leadership, revenue development, or innovation commercialisation.
  • Experience navigating organisational transition, amalgamation, or change in ambiguous environments.
  • A collaborative, people-first leadership style and a commitment to the national purpose this organisation serves.
What’s on Offer
  • National impact—contributing to the future of food and innovation in Aotearoa.
  • Opportunity to shape and stabilise a vital organisation at a strategic inflection point.
  • A values-driven culture with strong support from board and sector stakeholders.
  • The ability to make your mark in a space where public good and commercial success intersect.
