About the Role

Do you want to lead and be part of our dynamic team working on the edge of community innovation? As the Clinical Charge Nurse in District Nursing, your focus will be on ensuring the delivery of optimal patient outcomes and supporting staff engagement and development. You will provide visible leadership and coordination of your teams on a daily basis.

Community nurses provide nursing care to patients in our clinics or in patients’ homes across the central Auckland region. District Nurses enjoy a varied and autonomous role in the provision of care closer to home, within locality-based teams with clinics in Green Lane Clinical Centre, Kāhui Mārino (Pt Chevalier,) and Glen Innes.

  • Specialised wound management, including leg ulcer assessment and treatment.
  • Assistance with the management of intravenous medication, urinary and suprapubic catheters, continence issues, stoma care and injections, including rheumatic fever prophylaxis.
  • ACC nursing care.
  • Education and advice for clients around their healthcare needs or illness.
  • A wide variety of other nursing needs including palliative care.

We welcome you to join the experience of primary care expansion over the next decade, which will include the provision of more care in the patient’s home supported by IT and care technologies, and where you will be a leader of care in the home.

About you

As an ideal candidate:

  • Will have a Post Graduate degree and at least 5 years’ experience as a registered nurse, particularly within Primary Care, Community Nursing, Older Peoples Health, Telehealth, Emergency Care, Acute Inpatient Setting
  • Your strong clinical decision-making, innovation and communication skills are imperative to be successful in this role.
  • Be a forward-thinking nurse leader who is flexible, resilient and can manage a busy workload would be beneficial.
