About the role

  • Ensure correct preparation of acute and elective flow of patients into theatre focusing on out of theatre coordination
  • Responsible for promoting and leading excellence in clinical practice
  • Ensure high-quality nursing care for the acute and elective surgical patients
  • Collaborate with all speciality nurse leaders, theatre coordinators, charge nurse manager and duty coordinator
  • Manage acute and elective demand on bed flow to support an improved patient care experience and reduce wasted resources for example late cancellations
  • Provide specialist nursing care and expertise both in direct care delivery, and the mentoring of staff
  • Diversify across the perioperative team acting in the roles of clinician, educator, consultant, researcher, and leader/change agent
  • Pursue clinical excellence and improved health outcomes

About you

  • Advanced communication techniques such as conflict resolution, diffusion and mediation skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Proven advanced knowledge and skills in perioperative nursing
  • Either hold or be working towards post-graduate qualification at a minimum of a diploma or and a master's degree

Salary range

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the expired NZNO CEA and the salary will be in accordance with the designated senior nurse pay scale, Grade one between step one $114,025 and step two $121,444 p.a dependant on relevant experience.
