- Permanent – Full time – 80 hours per fortnight
- This is a stimulating opportunity for a registered clinical psychologist to apply their psychological skills, knowledge and understanding to a varied caseload in our new service.

About the Role
Psychology plays an essential role in consultation, complex case assessment, formulation and treatment, as well as service development.
We are looking for a registered Psychologist who has a passion for working with people with High and Complex Needs. You will be joining an interdisciplinary team of like-minded people whose focus is on a rehabilitative approach for people that have been engaged with Mental Health and Addictions Service and other services for a long time. This is a new way of working so we are looking for someone who is motivated to help build a modern approach to psychology that is culturally-informed and trauma-informed. Therefore, we are looking for someone who is motivated to practise psychology at the top of their knowledge and skills. You will be supported by our senior leadership team as well as the supportive team environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Mental Health and Addictions Service in the Waikato are implementing transformation change to be a Māori led service. You will need to be able to embrace these changes and to support the implementation of a Māori led service within the team and the wider service.
- Work with the Charge Nurse Manager/Team Leader to support a well-functioning mental health and addictions community team.
- To be committed to understanding the needs of the communities that we work in and building networks within them.

About the Team
The service has been named Oranga Rangatira to reflect the mana-enhancing intention. Note that ‘oranga’ in the general sense covers wellbeing, welfare, survival, health and living. The main description for a Rangatira is a first born or high ranking of a senior family in an iwi. However, the characteristics of a Rangatira includes utilising te reo Māori, tikanga, accessing marae, wahi tapu and access to whānau, hapu and iwi. These are all skills that will be offered to whānau under Te Ao Māori, to lift and build their identities, confidence and skills.
This will be an integrated service that is offered to tāngata whaiora in the community and within a residential unit. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team (clinical and non-clinical roles) that fosters a culture of mutual respect, safe practice and acknowledges contributions from both cultural and clinical perspectives.
Part of your role will be to support mana whenua to exercise their kaitiakitanga and manākitanga obligations within the context of the service.

About you
- Registered in a Clinical scope with the NZ Psychology Board or eligibility to obtain.
- Current annual practising certificate, or eligibility to obtain.
- A current full drivers licence.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
- Experience in upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and frameworks as they apply in healthcare settings.
- Strong interpersonal skills for working within a dynamic multidisciplinary team, including openness and professional respect.
