About the role

The Older Persons Mental Health Community Team has a Full-time, fixed-term opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse with comprehensive or psychiatric endorsement, who has a passion for working in mental health and enthusiasm to make a difference in the lives of older persons. This role involves working directly with clients/tangata whai ora, whanau, NGO service providers, Primary Health sector and Aged Residential Care facilities with the support of our wider Inter-Disciplinary team. The role also involves working alongside the team at the referral centre as required, managing intake and acute situations.

About You

The successful candidate will be a confident practitioner with the ability to work both autonomously in the community and cohesively within our Inter-Disciplinary Team. Exceptional assessment skills will be required, as will be the ability to develop individual management plans promoting client/tangata whai ora centred goals. Necessary personal attributes would include self-motivation, excellent interpersonal skills and a fastidious attention to documentation. Suitable IT skills will be a bonus. If you can also remain calm when under pressure and competently perform dynamic risk assessment in crisis situations you will likely fit well within our team.

A full, New Zealand driver - s license is a requirement as is a current NZ practicing certificate.

This is a 1 FTE, full-time position, fixed term, until 21st January 2026 working within Monday - Friday with option of some weekend work.
