About the Role

We are looking for an additional consumer advisor to join our exceptional Mental Health & Addictions Lived Experience team. A 0.5 FTE position has become available as a job share arrangement to complement our existing consumer and family / whānau advisor team.

As a consumer advisor you will play a vital role in ensuring the perspectives of people using our service are incorporated into decision-making and continual improvement processes within the Mental Health and Addictions Service. You will operate at a governance level within the Taranaki health system to improve health outcomes for our people, interacting and working alongside staff to bring about improvements in the planning and delivery of our service.

People’s recovery is enhanced when their voice and that of their family / whānau is included to guide their health care and the services they receive.

Some of the mahi our advisors are involved in include:

· working with clinical staff to develop services that are inclusive of consumer, whānau and family

· support understanding between consumer, whānau, family and service

· represent the consumer, whānau and family voice at all levels of the organisation and across all services

· assist with projects that have a consumer, whānau and family focus and contribute to quality improvements

· liaise and promote collaboration with other organisations to support the best outcomes for our people and their family / whānau

About the Team/Service/ Location

Enjoy working in a supportive Lived Experience team of Consumer and Whānau Advisors in the Taranaki Mental Health and Addictions Service. You will get the opportunity to work both collaboratively and independently to drive meaningful change and represent the voice of people and their families who use our services. Our service is close knit and embraces innovation and collaboration to support the people and families / whānau we serve.

Taranaki is a fantastic place to call home, with amazing beaches and mountain walks, and the magnificent Pukekura Park at the heart of the city that is home to the Festival of Lights and international events such as WOMAD.


About you

We are looking for an excellent communicator who demonstrates a passion for improving health outcomes for people.

·
You will have knowledge and understanding of service users challenges along with relevant life experience within Mental Health and Addictions.

·
You will also be familiar with frameworks relevant to Mental Health and Addictions Services.

·
Have a relevant Tertiary Qualification e.g. Certificate in Mental Health Support Work Level 4 is desirable.

·
Experience in sharing information and education.
