Lead data migration and support the delivery of our Payroll and HRIS Replacement Programme.

 

Mō tēnei tūranga - about the role

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Data Migration Technical Lead or Data Engineer to support our data migration and reporting workstream within our payroll and HRIS replacement programme. You will become the senior technical authority and trusted expert for all data migration activities. On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for:

  • Act as the lead technical expert for data migration, providing advice to vendors
  • Facilitate workshops to drive development and solve complex data challenges
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders
  • Oversee data migration, focusing on quality and assurance
  • Act as the escalation point for complex data migration challenges

 

This is a fixed-term role from now until approximately December 2026, offering the opportunity to make a lasting impact within a high-trust public service environment that supports both career and volunteer personnel across Aotearoa.

 

Ko tāu nā i tēnei tūranga - What you'll bring to the role:

Bring your excellent Data Engineering experience to serve as the central technical point of contact, to ensure a successful and high-quality data migration from our legacy systems (PSe) to Workday (HR) and Dayforce (Payroll). You will have excellent analytical and problem solving skills to diagnose complex technical issues.

 

To be successful in this role, we'd expect you will:

  • Demonstrated experience in a senior or lead role working on large scale data migration
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and extensive experience with enterprise-level ETL/data
  • integration tools
  • Hands on experience with cloud data platforms including MS Azure
  • Excellent relationship building skills with the ability to connect with a wide range of stakeholders
  • The ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear concise language
