About the Role
The Data Quality Lead is a permanent, full-time role that sits in the Major Projects team in the Protection Directorate of the National Public Health Service (NPHS).
This role is responsible for leading. developing and delivering the data quality strategy across the multiple digital systems being rolled out across the NPHS. The goal is to ensure that the digital systems have high quality data that accurately reflects business and surveillance needs. This will involve developing high quality relationships across system user communities and the consumers of the data. This role will contribute to the team responsible for the smooth development and running of our new technology systems as we build a strong nationally consistent platform for public health.

The NPHS within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. About you
You'll be a motivated and collaborative team member with a strong background in managing and supporting business-facing technology systems within complex environments. You'll bring a deep commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, ensuring equitable outcomes and culturally responsive practices in all areas of your work.
You will have:
- A relevant graduate qualification or equivalent experience (e.g., Public Health, Epidemiology, Informatics)
- Proven experience in leading and implementing data quality systems within operational digital systems
- Experience of designing and implementing data quality improvement processes and systems
- Experience in manging and supporting business facing technology systems
- Well-developed analytic skills and capacity with attention to detail, ability to map out a process, review quality and apply a continuous improvement lens across workflow
- Developed organisational skills with the ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to tailor complex messages to a range of audiences
