Director of Financial Markets

Te tūranga - The role

As the Director of Financial Markets you will be an integral part of the Leadership team within Te Pūtea Matua. You will provide strategic direction to the Directorate and FMD Management team and provide high quality advice to the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), The Assets and Liabilities committee (ALCO) and the RBNZ Board.

You will lead and oversee:

  • The Bank's balance sheet activities and ensure that the tool are appropriately designed and managed to meet monetary policy and financial stability objectives
  • Oversee high quality advice to key committees and the Board
  • Build, motivate, and develop a team with the range of capabilities and expertise needed to deliver on its broad mandate
  • Promote wider thought leadership on financial market policy and contribute to communications that build public understanding of Te Pūtea Matua's role.

You will be both adaptable and strategic in your thinking and your explanation of technical information is second to none. You are an expert in your field and understand and embody the perfect mix of both people and technical leadership.

In addition to this you will;

  • Provide strategical thought leadership in your area of responsibility and operational leadership across the organisation
  • Have demonstrable experience in the owning and implementation of key recommendations from policy committees
  • Possess relationship management experience to build, develop and maintain high level relationships with key internal and external stakeholder
  • Strong communication skills, with a collaborative style and an ability to be objective and influential within and across the organisation
