The Organisation
New Zealand Blood and Organ Service, a Crown entity is a one of a kind organisation in New Zealand. It is a complex manufacturing business that is clinically driven, and patient focused. It manufactures blood and blood products, manages extensive tissue banking facilities and is the national agency responsible for organ donation. Whilst Government owned it operates with the pace and agility of a commercial organisation but with additional governance.
About The Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Director Planning and Supply Chain is an influential executive role responsible for leading, overseeing, and providing strategic direction to the planning and supply chain function to maximise the efficiency and productivity of the collection and distribution of blood and blood products nationally. This encompasses planning and supply chain strategy and policy development, planning and forecasting, supply chain management and logistics performance, and procurement policy and process including sourcing decisions for some categories.
This interesting and challenging role also has accountability for property and facilities management including strategic long range facilities planning and the operating and capital budget for building, leasing, and construction projects. This includes strategic and operational management of buildings and facilities, leading negotiations for new builds and leases, and leading and overseeing large scale infrastructure and capital projects.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this unique opportunity candidates will have proven executive leadership experience within a complex environment and will be able to demonstrate:
- Business management and commercial experience at a senior level in end-to-end supply chain across an organisation, ideally within manufacturing environments.
- Strong proficiency in all areas of supply chain including S&OP, procurement, inventory, and logistics.
- Extensive experience in planning, supplier and contract management, negotiation, strategic procurement, and inventory management.
- Proven experience in process and business performance improvement, cost management, supply chain modelling, and change management.
- Leadership in developing, leading, and managing a team to high performance.
- Strong relationship management skills, with a track record of successfully partnering with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- A high level of commercial acumen, innovative and forward thinking mindset, collaborative and engaging style, and an energetic and driven approach.
