Responsibilities include the following:

  • Manage your own small case load of clients on Opioid Substitution Treatment (OST) and AOD assessment and treatment in the Central Otago/Dunstan area
  • Maintain regular contact with other Te Whatu Ora Health Services, and NGOs to ensure the best results, with a holistic wrap around approach
  • Provide one-on-one assessment and counselling for clients with other substance use problems
  • Facilitate evidence based/best practice intervention processes (including assessment, treatment planning, and intervention) according to your profession's scope of practice
  • Active involvement in the local Community Mental Health team on-call crisis roster is required. This covers 24 hour, 7 days a week, and your involvement will proportionate to FTE
  • Development towards becoming or maintaining Duly Authorised Officer for administering the Mental Health Act is required

About you:

  • Demonstrated compassion and friendliness, backed up by a resilient mind-set
  • Solid understanding of addiction issues and previous experience working with clients with co-existing problems (CEP)
  • Registered Health Professional with previous experience in Mental Health, with current APC or DAPAANZ Registered
  • An innovative thinker and team-player who uses initiative and embraces change
  • Ideally two years' experience in mental and physical health assessment, with an interest in specialist addictions
  • It is desirable that you also hold relevant post-graduate qualifications
  • A full and clean NZ driver's licence is essential
