About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Alcohol and other Drug mental health practitioner to join our team based in Whangārei. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team providing assessment and diagnosis, treatment and advice to tangata whaiora with co-existing substance use and mental health disorders. This role will work closely and maintain strong relationships with other mental health teams and service providers.

About the Team/Service/Location

We are a supportive team of experienced, knowledgeable alcohol and other drug and mental health practitioners. This role is based at Manaia House in the heart of Whangārei city, with the Northern region's community mental health and addictions service.

About you

You will need:

  • Postgraduate qualification in Dual Diagnosis, Assessment and Treatment of Substance Misuse Problems and Mental Health Disorders or other relevant postgraduate courses
  • A recognised Bachelor level qualification in Alcohol and Drug studies, counselling, Social Work, Nursing, Psychology, Social Sciences or related fields
  • At least three years' experience working in mental health and/or addiction services with tangata whaiora who have co-existing mental health and substance use problems and disorders, including an understanding of the needs of individuals and whanau facing such problems
  • Qualification(s) and/or training in counselling and facilitation skills in individual, group and whanau situations
  • Qualification and/or training in clinical supervision
  • A current drivers licence and ability to travel throughout Northland as required
