About the Role

The Nga Kakano is a 16 bed regional unit which covers the South Island and works with people under the age of 18 with mental health problems. We have a strong focus on working with the youth and their family/whanau. You will be part of a dedicated, collaborative and cohesive multi-disciplinary team; with the opportunity to contribute to challenging yet rewarding work. 

This is an exciting time to be joining the team as we have moved into new purpose built, state-of-the-art facilities based at Hillmorton Hospital - these facilities are a game-changer, enabling contemporary treatments and enabling more effective and efficient treatment pathways for our young people. 

We are seeking an experienced Enrolled Nurse with scope for Mental Health to bring your enthusiasm and motivation to work with us, in return we - ll provide you with a great opportunity to enhance your skills in a specialty area. 

About you

  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC and mental health scope;
  • An interest in Safewards and training in the Collaborative Problem Solving Approach will be provided;
  • An ability to forge and foster meaningful relationships, whilst treating others with respect, encouragement and support;
  • Adhere to guidelines of Cultural Safety and the Treaty of Waitangi.
