Te Haeata/The Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and strategically minded Finance Business Partner to join our high performing team of finance professionals. This is an exciting time to join the team to help shape the financial future of the departmental agency, Te Tari Whakatau (the Agency).
Core to the role is working with the Agency's Leadership Team and budget managers, providing leadership in financial planning and management, driving sound strategic financial decision making, and leading both internal and external budgeting processes for the Agency. You will also be helping the business navigate the financial aspects of Treaty settlements, ensuring accurate financial information in papers to Ministers and Cabinet.
Based in Wellington and reporting to the Finance Manager, you will work alongside a Management Accountant to provide seamless financial support to Te Tari Whakatau. As the Agency's financial lead and trusted advisor to the Leadership Team, your influence will extend beyond traditional Finance Business Partner responsibilities.
We're looking for someone with strong relationship-building skills, a sharp eye for detail, and a passion for continuous improvement.

To be successful in this role, you will combine strong technical expertise with excellent communication skills to build trusted relationships with stakeholders and to ensure the credibility of financial information and advice is maintained.
You will have the following skills and experience to be successful in this role:
- strong analytical, strategic and planning capabilities with a commercially savvy mindset
- proven ability to build and maintain positive stakeholder relationships and effective networks across and within organisations
- demonstrated experience in analysing complex technical issues and making informed business decisions with financial impact
- excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- strong working knowledge of Government Financial Management legislation, policies, and practices
- advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- full CA (or equivalent) preferred.

Utu ā-tau/Salary
The appointing salary for this role will be between $111,776 and $154,680 based on skills and experience.
