Job Description
Lead finance in a flexible, part-time role with a purpose-led team reshaping how Kiwis build wealth through property.
Be part of a mission to make property ownership accessible to all.
At Tressel (trading as Housies.co.nz), we're doing something no one else is – unlocking the property market for everyday New Zealanders. Through co-investment and fractionalised ownership, we’re creating a new, tech-enabled path to build equity and wealth. As a licensed financial services platform backed by smart technology and a social mission, we’re at the forefront of innovation in property investment.
Now, we’re looking for an Agile, forward-thinking Finance Manager to join this small, high-trust team. If you're someone who thrives on building from scratch, is comfortable rolling up your sleeves, and wants to have a meaningful hand in shaping how Kiwis invest in property – this is your opportunity.
What you’ll be doing
You'll be across the full finance function – from keeping the day-to-day running smoothly to advising founders on big-picture decisions. The key platforms and systems (like Xero) are already in place, so your role is about overseeing, optimising, and continuously improving how they operate financially as they scale up.
This will include
- Overseeing and refining existing finance systems and processes – focusing on continuous improvement, not building from scratch.
- Ownership of day-to-day finance operations – including AR/AP, reconciliations, payroll, and monthly reporting.
- Delivering clear, timely financial reports – including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and variance analysis.
- Partnering with the CEO and founders – helping shape financial strategy with data-driven insights.
- Ensuring compliance – tax obligations (GST, income tax), regulatory reporting, and FMA license requirements.
- Supporting forecasting and budgeting – offering insights that support smart decision-making.
- Looking for efficiencies – especially through automation, AI, integration, and smarter use of existing tools and new tools.
You’re not just a numbers person – you’re a builder, a doer, and a strategic thinker. You enjoy being involved across everything, from reconciling the bank account to advising on financial implications of business decisions.
- CA qualified (or equivalent).
- Broad experience across finance functions – ideally in a highly dynamic environment such as a startup, scale-up, or founder-led business.
- Strong understanding of NZ tax and accounting standards (GAAP).
- A digital native who confidently navigates modern business applications, with at least basic familiarity with automation and AI tools
- Curious about automation, AI, and smarter ways of working.
- An excellent communicator – equally at ease speaking ‘finance’ to a board and plain English to the team
- Be the finance leader from day one – own the space, set the tone, and grow your role with the business.
- Enjoy genuine flexibility – part-time hours to suit, approx. 20 per week
- Contribute to a mission with social impact – helping everyday New Zealanders build wealth.
- Operate with autonomy in a high-trust, founder-led team where your input matters.
- Shape the financial future of a business with big ambition and real heart.
We’re looking for someone who wants to build, not maintain. Someone who thrives in change and wants their work to make a difference.
