H2R Consulting are working with Volpara Health to locate a Financial Accountant to join the Wellington based finance team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with 3-5 years’ experience post-university. Ideally, we are looking for someone who is CA qualified (or equivalent), with a private-sector background (e.g. Big-4).

The role:
The Financial Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial records and reports. This role guarantees timely financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards and tax obligations, and support for budgeting and forecasting processes. When successful, the Financial Accountant enables the business to make informed decisions using meaningful data and ensures compliance with all financial obligations.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage general ledger accounting, journal entries, and month-end close processes.
  • Prepare financial statements, reports, and reconciliations in accordance with IFRS and NZ accounting standards.
  • Prepare Group consolidation and NZ, AU & UK entities financials.
  • Assist with technical accounting matters, e.g. NZ IFRS 15, NZ IFRS 16, NZ IFRS 19, etc.
  • Work closely with external auditors to provide necessary documentation and support during audits.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filings for tax returns and associated payments, including GST, VAT, BAS, NRWT and income tax
  • Work alongside the management accountant on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Intangible and Fixed Asset management.
  • Generate various finance policies and actionable items for the Global Head of Finance.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • Qualified Chartered Accountant, registered with CAANZ (or close to completion)
  • Around 3 years’ relevant experience.
  • Experience in large corporate / private organisations preferred (i.e. the ‘Big4’)
  • Experience working in a Software as a Service (SAAS) environment beneficial (not essential).
  • Ability to analyse and communicate complex financial information.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Experience with Salesforce, Sage, Intacct and Adaptive Insights beneficial.
