Job Description

Our Client is a multi-generational family market garden, our small admin team is based in a lovely rural setting in the beautiful Horowhenua. Producing over 24 types of fresh vegetables Our clients supply product across the whole of New Zealand. They have over 225 staff from across many different nations making for a dynamic working environment.

As the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations and ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. You will provide critical financial insights, support decision-making, and ensure the company meets its financial goals. This role will work closely with senior management and the finance team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage and oversee daily operations of the accounting department, including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger functions.
  • Coordinate and prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for management and external stakeholders.
  • Analyse financial performance and provide insights to support strategic business decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial reporting, record keeping and tax obligations with the support of company accountants.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and enhance the accuracy of financial reports.
  • Develop financial models and perform financial analysis to support business planning and decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting/finance
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in Xero
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across departments.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial modelling
