Contract: Permanent, part-time (0.5 FTE), rostered and rotating

About the Role 

Hutt Hospital are seeking enthusiastic, customer service focused Food Service Attendants to join our Food Service Team. We have three part-time positions available rostered across 7 days; hours of work are 9am - 1pm. The hourly rate is $29.25 - $31.96.

Duties include:

  • Accurately collecting patient meal orders utilizing our Electronic Menu System
  • Verifying meal suitability by comparing patient information to food requirements
  • Answer questions from patients regarding menu selections, and meal selections and concerns.
  • Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs and special requests to the kitchen staff.

This position requires a degree of physical fitness, as you will be on your feet for the entire shift, interacting with patients, whanau and ward staff. 

About the Team

Hutt Hospital Food Service Department provides approximately 1000 meals a day. All meals are prepared and served fresh onsite. We are committed to ensuring patients, staff, visitors and the meals on wheels service receive high quality meals in a timely manner. We are busy but like to have a laugh with each other as we work, encouraging a supportive and fun team environment.

About you 

  • Previous experience in a similar fast paced hospitality/customer service and/or food service environment
  • Good computer skills and the ability to quickly learn specific applications
  • Ability to problem solve and maintain positive working relationships with team members
  • Ability to apply critical thinking, problem solving and effectively deal with complexity.

Other skills and knowledge

  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Positive attitude and tidy personal appearance
  • Willingness to learn and work as part of a team
  • Available to work weekends
