Waikato Hospital now has an exciting opportunity for motivated, dynamic General Medicine physicians to join our collegial, forward-thinking team.

 

About the Role

General Medicine at Waikato Hospital is a fast-paced, supportive environment in one of New Zealand’s largest and most diverse regional centres. With full specialist backup across medicine and surgery, you’ll have the chance to work at scale while still being closely connected to your colleagues.

We’re introducing innovative new care models – including Hospital in the Home – and we’re looking for physicians eager to help shape and lead these changes. Your work will be central to:

  • Improving patient flow through ED and the Acute Medical Unit (AMU)
  • Reducing avoidable admissions and length of stay
  • Driving safer, more efficient, and more compassionate care

About You

You are a General Medicine Specialist who:

  • Brings clinical excellence and compassionate leadership to a team environment
  • Holds (or is eligible for) vocational registration in Internal Medicine with the Medical Council of NZ
  • Has a commitment to equity and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
