Health New Zealand-Te Whatu Ora, Counties Manukau has established the Mangere Refugee Health Service providing primary care and other services at Te Āhuru Mōwai o Aotearoa (also known as the Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre).
This is a unique opportunity to work with Quota Refugees whilst resident, providing health care to a population with complex health needs. We are seeking an experienced General Practitioner/s to maintain, restore and coordinate healthcare of Quota Refugees through the provision of primary care and public health expertise. You will provide expert clinical assessment, screening, interventions and identification of health concerns of refugees including mental health and addictions. Ideally you will have experience working with refugees and a strong understanding of their health needs with experience providing care within a general practice or urgent care clinic. Further experience working with children, women’s health, mental health and/or sexual health would be preferable. The position will work with refugees to enable them to build trust and confidence in the NZ Health System.

About the role
· Based at Te Āhuru Mōwai o Aotearoa (formerly known as the Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre) with free car-parking
· Part time (0.6 FTE), Monday to Friday role (8am to 4.30pm) with no on-call or out of hours work required
Essential requirements include:
· Vocationally registered medical practitioner with a current practicing certificate
· Minimum 3 years’ experience as a vocationally registered practitioner
· Ability to work flexibly and innovatively, and in partnership with others
· Experience working with refugees and having a strong understanding of their health needs is preferred.
