About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified General Surgeon to work within our Head, Neck, Breast and Endocrine, General Surgery Services in Auckland, New Zealand.
Te Toka Tumai has state of the art facilities with both secondary and tertiary inpatient services at Auckland City Hospital and outpatient and elective surgery facilities at Greenlane Clinical Centre. We are a major tertiary hospital with a teaching focus in partnership with the University of Auckland.
The Department of General Surgery at Auckland City Hospital invites applications from qualified General Surgeons with an interest in Breast and Endocrine Surgery and Surgical Oncology. The appointee will also take part in the Acute General Surgery workload of the department.
This is a full-time position with on call requirements. It is essential that applicants have surgical training equivalent to FRACS level with Post-Fellowship training in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery in a recognised scheme. Desirable attributes also include post-fellowship experience in Endocrine Surgery or Surgical Oncology. The appointee will also be competent in the acute treatment of general surgical conditions. A commitment to research, audit and quality assurance is also required.
About you: Important Skills
Applicants must be eligible for registration as a Specialist General Surgeon with the Medical Council of New Zealand. As an ideal candidate, you should have
- Completed a Specialty Fellowship training programme recognised by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or equivalent
- Relevant post-graduate training and experience in the area of Melanoma and Non-Melanoma skin cancer, and post-Fellowship training in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery, preferably in an approved training program.
- Successfully complete a RACS DSTC Provider Course within twelve months of commencing duty unless previously completed and updated ATLS certification.
