Are you a recent graduate with a passion for geospatial science, surveying, or data analysis? Join our Positioning team at Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand and help shape the future of New Zealand's location infrastructure.

As a Graduate Geospatial Specialist, you'll be supported to grow your technical skills and gain hands-on experience in a nationally significant domain. You'll work alongside experienced geodesists and surveyors, contributing to projects that maintain and enhance New Zealand's geodetic and survey control systems.

In this role, you will:

  • Learn to analyse and process geodetic survey data, contributing to the accuracy and reliability of the national Geodetic Database.
  • Assist with fieldwork across Aotearoa, gaining practical experience in geodetic surveying and GNSS data collection.
  • Help maintain the systems that underpin New Zealand's spatial data infrastructure, including coordinate systems and reference frames.
  • Provide support and advice to internal teams and external users of the geodetic system, helping them understand and apply geospatial data effectively.

This is a fantastic opportunity to build a strong foundation in geospatial science while contributing to work that supports land management, infrastructure development, and emergency response across New Zealand.

He pūkenga tou - Skills & Experience

  • Hold (or be in the final year of) a suitable tertiary qualification (BSurv or equivalent)
  • Be familiar with least squares analysis, including use of the SNAP software
  • Have experience with geodetic computations, including GNSS data processing
  • Understand New Zealand's geodetic system and its relationship to the cadastre
  • Possess good communication skills and a willingness to work collaboratively as part of a small team, across Toitū Te Whenua and with customers

The expected appointing range for this role is between $65,000 and $75,000
