About the Role
Wāhi Oranga is a large unit that provides intensive acute and rehabilitative cares for people admitted to the unit. We are recruiting for a permanent 0.75 FTE Mental Health Assistant (MHA) position. Shifts will be rostered and rotating AM, PM and Nights across 7 days.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Our team is passionate about mental health and the recovery process, delivering a high standard of care and having a real impact on the lives of some of our most vulnerable people. As a Mental Health Assistant your role is to work with the team to provide basic nursing care under the supervision and direction of Registered Nurses. This will include working with challenging behaviours. We strive to create a positive and balanced work environment and safe workloads.

About you
We are looking for people with excellent communication skills, who ideally have experience working in the mental health field. It is equally important that you are able to work in a flexible and methodical manner, demonstrate honesty and reliability and use appropriate initiative.
Qualifications
Required qualifications include:
Essential
- Year 11 NCEA level 1 English (or equivalent)
- Year 11 NCEA level 1 Maths (or equivalent)
Preferred
- NZQA Level 3 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Health Assistance Strand (or equivalent)
