About the role
This role is at the centre of a connected, strategy led safety and wellbeing function. You will drive national consistency across a diverse portfolio, enabling hospital-based leaders and facilities teams while ensuring a strong foundation of systems, insights and governance. A big part of your success will come from building relationships and influencing with care, using data and sound judgement to guide people and process improvements.
Duties
As the functional lead, you will deliver a national strategy that enables safety and wellbeing across all operational settings. Ensuring systems are fit for purpose, you will drive engagement with leaders and frontline teams alike. Working closely with facilities, property and clinical stakeholders, supporting delivery without taking ownership away from local leaders is critical to the success of this role.
To succeed in this role, you will have extensive experience in a similar role and will bring a balance of strategic insight, operational awareness and a strong people lens. You are calm under pressure, grounded in facts, and genuinely interested in what helps people work safely and well.

- Lead, refine and embed national HSW strategy
- Coach and influence senior leaders
- Develop and implement health and safety initiatives
- Build a strong centre of excellence and data-led improvements

- Tertiary qualification in Health and Safety (required)
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional HSW strategies
- Qualifications in Project Management is advantageous
- Strong data analysis and performance reporting skills
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing capability
- Senior health and safety leadership experience is a must
- NZISM membership or equivalent professional body
