The Health & Safety Advisor role is critical to the infrastructure and support of the business and is key to maintaining as a priority, Health, Safety and Wellbeing of people.

About the Role:

Reporting to the General Managers of Kiwi Concrete and Road Metals you will be the ‘subject matter expert’ and enabler of best practice Health and Safety, through advising and coaching people from operational level through to senior managers. Key competency areas of this role are:

Leadership & Relationship Style:

  • Partner with managers, teams & safety representatives
  • Integrate with suppliers, sub-contractors, contractors & customers
  • Train, coach, mentor & monitor at operations to management level
  • Be hands-on to promote a ‘walk the talk’ Health & Safety culture
  • Provide functional support to related human resources functions

Health, Safety & Risk:

  • Manage & maintain best practice systems, technologies & documentation
  • Identify, analyse, & mitigate all critical risks
  • Investigate incidents to root cause & manage effective controls
  • Manage Health & Safety Committee routines

  
Compliance:

  • Ensure policies & operations meet current Legislative requirements
  • Effective liaison with Worksafe as required
  • Conduct periodic Health & Safety Audits & action results


Experience:

You will have a natural affinity to work alongside people and be passionate about ensuring best practice Health, Safety and Wellbeing for them.  A consultative and coaching style together with a pragmatic standards based operational focus is important. A background in either the mining, quarrying, civil and construction or related industry such as infrastructure is ideal. A good working knowledge of the Quarries and Mines Act is desirable. Relevant qualifications together with strong, systems, attention to detail and compliance is also important.
