Established in 2009 to support the meat processing industry, the business operates four South Island sites—two in Dunedin, one in Timaru, and another near Christchurch. The largest site processes 400–500 tonnes of material daily.
About the role
The preferred location for this role is Dunedin; however, applicants based in South Canterbury/Timaru will also be considered.
As the sole Health and Safety professional, you will take full ownership of all Health and Safety responsibilities, spanning from strategic planning to hands-on implementation. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll provide practical safety and risk advice to Plant Managers across all sites.
The sites operate year-round on shift patterns and have between 10 and 30 team members each. Travel between sites is required every 2–3 weeks.

- Ensure Environmental Compliance responsibilities are met
- Guide and support the operational teams with practical Health and Safety advice
- Promote worker participation to drive a positive safety culture
- Provide strategic input into continuous improvement of HS systems
- Establish and maintain policies and procedures that support a safe workplace
Skills and experience
Strong communication and engagement skills are essential to effectively embed the health and safety message in a collaborative and practical manner.
- Relevant tertiary qualification
- Experience in a manufacturing/industrial sector (essential)
- Flexible and adaptable
- Proficient in using technology, including Risk Manager software
- Full, clean drivers licence
- Experience in the meat processing industry ideal
