About the Role
Bay of Plenty – Hauora a Toi are looking for caring and committed Health Care Assistants to support our amazing maternity team at Tauranga Hospital, in a part-time basis. In this hands-on role, you will work closely with midwives and nurses, supporting māmā, pēpi, and whānau across the antenatal, birthing and postnatal journey.
The day-to-day tasks will focus on providing practical care and comfort under the direction and delegation of a Registered Midwife – whether it is supporting new mothers, assisting with newborn care, or helping keep the ward running smoothly. No two days are the same, and you will finish each shift knowing you have made a real difference.

About you
We seek a proactive and caring individual with a genuine interest in supporting māmā and pēpi throughout their maternity journey. You work well in a team, understand your scope of practice, and bring a calm, respectful presence to every shift.
What you will bring:
- Current enrolment in a Bachelor of Midwifery programme (Maternity Care Assistant).
- Level 4 Certificate in Health Care Assistance or a relevant health qualification.
- Confidence working under the direction and delegation of a Registered Midwife, with awareness of both direct and indirect supervision.
- Competence in basic computer use and electronic clinical systems.
